Founder

Emie Roy

Emie Roy founded the platform, ‘The Stories Untold’ to bring to light several important recounts which would otherwise have gone unnoticed. She believes that shining a spotlight on real people’s stories is important to bring about a better understanding of the society we live in, which in turn will enable social cohesion.

Emie is a writer, speaker, documentary film maker, and above all, a passionate storyteller. She has been writing and telling stories for the best of a decade in the form of speeches, articles, essays, life writing (on people, places and things), storyboards and scripts. She also uses her storytelling skills to facilitate soft-skills workshops.

She is a member of the Women’s Advisory committee at Blacktown City Council, and a founder member of ‘Champions of Change’, initiated by Community Migrant Resource Centre. She was also an advisory member at the Committee for Sydney’s Future Cities program. Generous with her time and commitment, she never shies away from an opportunity to help her community.

What moulded Emie is her simple and delightful childhood. Always encouraged to stay ‘different’ as a child, she didn’t realise that it was a huge privilege until she grew up and realised how swimming with the tide is the norm. She has stayed true to that advise ever since, and continues to look for the extra ordinary within the ‘ordinary’!

Her documentary series, ‘Unlocked’, speaks about how the isolation during pandemic times impacted the lives of a few people in Western Sydney.
